Send Any Files With This New Whatsapp Feature

File sharing is a great WhatsApp feature. You can share documents with a few simple steps. WhatsApp is finally rolling out a feature that allows sending any file type. It includs archives and media files too. But the rollout is slow and limited. Its a server side update so you don’t have to download latest beta.

Until now, WhatsApp allowed file types as csv, doc, docx, pdf, ppt, pptx, rtf, txt, xls, xlsx and similar. The list didn’t include any media files. Now, Whatsapp is reportedly rolling out the enhanced sharing feature with limitation on file size. The maximum size of the share is for iOS is 128 MB, for Android is 100 MB and for a Web client is 64 MB. Whatsapp may increase them in future.

WhatsApp is experimenting with this feature solely with some users at the instant. If it works for you, thats great. Otherwise, you can find similar functionality in the open-source alternative Telegram.

You can get Whatsapp from Google Play Store or from the official website.
